If you have severely stained teeth that can’t be whitened or a chipped tooth that you want fixed immediately, porcelain veneers may be the perfect fit for you.
Dental Veneers
Dental veneers are thin plastic or porcelain shells that are made to cover the front of your tooth or multiple teeth. They provide a beautiful look that makes your tooth look good as new in only a few visits to Polished Dentistry. Usually veneers are placed on the front teeth and are permanently bonded to your natural tooth. They are custom made to perfectly match the shape, color, and size of your tooth. Veneers can completely change your smile and how your teeth look. They can whiten stained teeth, fix cracks or chips, protect teeth, and close gaps between teeth.
Composite Veneers vs. Porcelain Veneers
Composite veneers can be done in one office visit and are done using the same materials and process as dental bonding. With porcelain veneers, the material has a translucent appearance that gives the veneers the look of natural teeth. While cosmetic veneers are still strong, porcelain veneers are the most durable and the most natural looking option. They both also have their cons. Composite veneers may stain, while porcelain does not. However porcelain veneers may break under extreme stress.
Veneer Procedure
When you get your porcelain veneers, it will take at least two visits to Polished Dentistry. First we will shape your tooth, prepare it for the procedure, and take wax impressions of your teeth. During this appointment, you will also receive a temporary veneer until your next visit. When you come back, the temporary veneer will be removed and the new porcelain veneer will be bonded to the tooth with a strong adhesive material to keep it on tight.
